Try starting with three rhyming couplets on a common theme
keeping beats to the line the same throughout. Make yourself a
worksheet like the one above, split the couplets and insert the
lines using each twice (line 1 = line 12 and so on) consistent with
the pantoum rhyming scheme. Sort the punctuation and do lots
and lots of editing. For a final check, make sure that each stanza
could work reasonably well on its own as a quatrain and also that
a cohesive story runs through the full 12 lines. This is just one
way to approach one popular type of symmetrical three
stanza, rhymed pantoum and is not intended as a definitive model
for writing all types of pantoum. It works for me.
